The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas A 4 hour Read
Starr’s family lives in a poor neighborhood where they own a small grocery store. They live there by choice. They choose to try to stay and make things better. Yet Starr goes to a private school forty-five minutes away. After a party that ended with gunshots Starr is with her friend Kahill when they get pulled over by the police. Kahill is shot by the police. There is a lot of hate and loyalty and some love in this story. This story is a reminder of how difficult life is for some people in some neighborhoods. We often say make good choices and make a better life. I’m not sure what choices the people in this story could have made to make things better.
